WALKS ABOUT BAKEWELL

£3.00

Four circular walks and a town trail radiate from the centre of this fascinating Derbyshire market town. Attractively sited around an ancient crossing point of the meandering River Wye, Bakewell is the principal town in the Peak District National Park.

The walks begin at the Peak District National Park and Tourist Information Centre on Bridge Street in Bakewell. Walk Five is a short potter around town but the other walks are four to five miles long, ideal for exploring the splendid local countryside in half-a-day or so. Each walk contains at least one ascent, if only to climb the hillsides surrounding the town but they are generally easy going.

Walks One and Two pass the entrance to Haddon Hall and there is an optional extension in Walk Three to Chatsworth House. If you decide to visit them as part of your walk, or to stop and enjoy the villages, pubs or teashops, then you will need to allow extra time, at least three hours for the extended walk and visit to Chatsworth.

Bakewell is well served by public transport, both locally and over longer distances to cities such as Derby, Nottingham, Manchester, Sheffield and London. There is plenty of parking close to the town centre, although this will sometimes be full on busy summer days or bank holidays. There is a wide range of accommodation and refreshment facilities in Bakewell.

Each guide comes with a clear waterproof wallet and free UK delivery.
